Environmental Action

For the MindSpark Lions Club, protecting the planet is a hands-on mission. We believe that a healthy environment is the foundation for healthy communities, and as a youth and adult-led club, we are committed to sustainable action that preserves our local ecosystem for generations to come.

Leading community cleanups and tree-planting initiatives to protect our local ecosystem.

We will also partner with other clubs in delivering the projects, such as

  1. Type 2 Diabetes Screening
  2. Vision Screening and Eyeglass Recycling
  3. Youth Camps and Exchange

Our Environmental Priorities

We align our "Green Team" efforts with Lions International Global Causes to tackle local ecological challenges.

Community Clean-Ups: We organize regular "Street & Shore" sweeps to remove litter from local parks and Long Island beaches, preventing plastic from entering our waterways.

Tree Planting & Reforestation: Joining the global effort to improve air quality and restore habitats, we host annual planting events to increase our local green canopy.

Waste Reduction & Recycling: Beyond eyeglasses, we lead initiatives for hard-to-recycle items and promote "zero-waste" living through community workshops.

Innovative "Green" Ideas

Pollinator Gardens: Designing and planting "Bee & Butterfly" stations in local schools to support biodiversity.

Upcycling Workshops: Teaching youth how to turn "trash into treasure" through creative crafting and repair cafes.

Sustainable "Seed Libraries": Partnering with local libraries to provide free heirloom seeds to community gardeners.
